Nothing happened because of who she is but this is the way teacher's attempt to abuse kids. They make nice with the student's family. WAY inappropriate. missdirection1111 - not all teachers who get to know the families of their students, and foster familial relationships are abusers, but yes parents need to be vigilant. Pedaphiles do groom their victims and their families. Broad bush strokes to paint an entire profession are just misguided and unfair. We need far harsher penalties than exist. We need institutions to face these problems and not cover them up and relocate the offender. Its happened before in MHS. believe me. At least someone somehow outed guy and I hope he is severely punished, stripped if his certification and loses every cent of his pention. Go get him Riza!

I'm absolutely shocked! I had him for 9th + 10th grade English. When he first began teaching at Methacton. Scary how you don't expect these things.

I'm tired of reading about teachers like this! What the hell am I paying 4 thousand dollars in stinkin' school taxes for? Teachers like this? Or all the "administrators" who don't do anything all day? All us homeowners are GETTING RIPPED OFF!!!!!!

I agree Joe. They no longer value experience or integrity, values and common sense. It's all about money. Our children's educations amd futures have been coopted by the bottom line and bogus initiatives like np child left behind. Really sad.

My son had him for the first two years of high school. He was teaching a gifted seminar class. I had a couple of one on one meetings with him and all he talked about was himself. I was very turned off by his attitude and found him to be very full of himself. I did not let my son take his class after the second year because I felt he was wasting his time......It's a shame because both of my children received a wonderful education at Methacton. He will pay for this for sure and hopefully this young girl will be ok. I'm hoping her parents are ok! I think I would want to cut his.......off!

I'm in shock to be honest. I know him outside of school. I never suspected this. I'm sorry for everyone involved except him. I work for another district in the area and we have had this happen also. It's not just Methacton.

I pay over $6000 in school taxes. I'm on the school board, I'm very involved with my children's education. As a young student, I too enjoyed close relationships with my teachers & several of those I keep lin touch with. To Ms Maura, I'm not completely clear what your dumpster diving has to do with this serious subject, however, good for you that you create! I do not watch Fox news, EVER. LASTLY, I agree that fostering relationships with teachers is not necessarily a negative thing, I appreciate the teachers who go above & beyond. The key statement in my original post was that this year paid WAY TOO MUCH ATTENTION TO MY NIECE. There is a balance that teachers need to carefully strike; many of my extr need family & friends are teachers, husband a college professor. They are trained & taught codes of ethics & behaviors. And when in doubt, they always have another teacher, or parent in the same room.
We will never be able to weed these pedophiles out of the system entirely but. there are signs to look out for. When in doubt be vigilant & speak to your kids, often. Methacton has a terrific reputation, this can & does happen everywhere.

We also had a 1-on-1 meeting with him, when he referred to the fact that there were many "SPA girls" at Methacton. SPA = Smart, Pretty and Athletic. That comment seems a whole lot creepier now than it did then...

I believe that the teachers are learning misconduct from the Superintendant! At least we aren't paying for this idiots misconduct as we are for the supers!
