1. Brigadier General Francis Nash, of North Carolina, was said to have been rendered unrecognizable by musket and cannon fire at the Battle of Georgetown. Despite the severity of his wounds, he clung to life for three more days before dying at Washington's camp on the farm of Frederick Wampole in Kulpsville on October 7, 1777. He is buried in Towamencin Township.
2. The Battle of White Marsh, from December 5-8, 1777, took place in and around Whitemarsh Township. It is sometimes referred to as the Battle of Edge Hill.
3. The Mordecai Evans House on Main St. in Linfield was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.
4. Mary Todd Lincoln's great-grandfather was General Andrew Porter, who served under George Washington and established the Selma plantation and Selma Mansion in Norristown in 1783.
