Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

Yuengling Offers FREE BEER TODAY

Be at a participating Philadelphia establishment at 6:30 tonight and you get a free bottle of America's oldest lager with which to join the Philly-wide toast.

Okay, so maybe it's not traditional "breaking news," but we thought that on a Friday afternoon, you'd appreciate learning about the opportunity to grab a free cold one on your way home.

In celebration of "being named the largest American-owned brewery," Yuengling, the pride of Pottsville, PA, is raising a glass with the city of Philadelphia tonight at 6:30 p.m.

The promotion, "Here's to You, Philly," guarantees one free bottle of the cold stuff to anyone at a participating location in the City of Brotherly Love.

Want to know where to get yours? Click here for a list of establishments that are participating in the toast. Several of Montgomery County's more popular watering holes are on the list.

Cheers, Patch readers!

First off, Yuengling Beer sucks! I wouldn't take it for free. Second off, this is NOT breaking news, Patch. One more nonsensical "breaking news alert" like this I'm going to unsubscribe!

I hate to burst the fermented bubble of the writer but Schaefer is Americas oldest lager beer. I only drink the best.

Roy,
I think we all know where that stick ended up. Roy just because Schaefer says they are the oldest doesn't mean it's true. Yuengling started in 1829 which was 13 years before Schaefer.

Question, what is a lager beer? Because a brewery moves it facility to another location dosent change things. Yuenging is the oldest brewery in one location but can't lay clams of the oldest lager. If you want I can send you a photo of each label to look at and a history.

Tiny,

Yuengling started in 1829 and Schaefer started in 1842 and Schaefer is brewed by Pabst, end of story.
