Low-cost Computers For Children Who Need Them

An Audubon-based group is helping to provide low-cost, refurbished computers to children.

TeamChildren in Audubon are trying to erase the digital divide by helping to provide low-cost, refurbished, computers to children and their families who need one, according to their website.

TeamChildren want to change early childhood education, to eradicate the digital divide that is symptomatic of the ‘haves’ and the ‘have nots’ and to help grow the not-for-profit sector of society.

According to their website, “[r]ecent brain research is making an increasingly compelling case for the importance of early childhood development. The effects of poverty on the brain are well known; according to the Early Childhood Longitudinal Study, Birth Cohort (ECLS-B), the differences in proficiency levels of those living in poverty will start developing as soon as a child is born.”
