Viewfinder: Last Snow Day of 2012

Many families in and out of the township gathered to have some wintry fun at Eagleville Park on Dec. 30.

When it snows, the families know, one of the best places to go sledding in Lower Providence can be found at Eagleville Park, located at 100 Parklane Drive in Eagleville, behind the Lower Providence Township Building complex.

"We love it, we come here every year," Beth Hall, an Eaglveville resident said. "You can see the three tiers for them to slide down. It's almost like a mini-ski-resort."

Visitors to Eagleville Park on the mid-afternoon of Dec. 30, could see several children and their warmly dressed parents, enjoying the freshly fallen snow of just the previous night.

Hall, who was with her husband and children, said that Eagleville Park is a popular spot for sledding, and counted at least three other families who took adantage of the snow day, just within the last hour.

"I love sledding here," Alex Murphy, a West Norriton resident said.

Alex, armed with his blue round sled, came with his parents Brian and Erica, along with younger siblings Sara and Kelly.

According to Brian Murphy, Dec. 30 was his family's first time sledding at Eagleville park. He said that his family decided to seek out a suitable place to enjoy the snow, after finding that their neighborhood park's snow had already melted.

"As you can tell, the kids are very happy with the decision," he said.
