Audubon Artist Featured in Montgomery County Art Show

Matt Hilend was one of over 15 local artists to participate in this year's Lansdale Fun A Day art show.

Matt Hilend, a 2012 graduate of Hussian School of Art, showcased his work at the 2013 Lansdale Fun A Day art show.

The Lansdale Fun A Day, which invites artists from the Montgomery County area, was held Feb. 8. Over 15 artists showcased artwork at the event. Many of the artworks were the results of the artists’ participation in the National Fun A Day Challenge, where artists attempted to create art every day in January.

Hilend, an Audubon resident, is an illustrator and graphic designer.

He said that the Fun A Day is beneficial for local, suburban artists who would otherwise need to travel to Philadelphia to get exposure for their work.

“You have so many talented people here,” said Hilend. “And, when you put the framework together for something like this, it’s a godsend.”

For his Fun A Day participation, Hilend showcased digitally enhanced images as larger photos or as post cards. His one postcard, named “Dead Space,” featured a skull in a spacesuit, with the skull superimposed over an actual photo of Buzz Aldrin in a space suit.
