‘Farmer and the Chef’ Brings Together Area Restaurants

The first-ever event will feature signature dishes from more than 20 of the area's most popular restaurants and will help to raise money for the Collegeville Farmers Market.

On Sept. 12, the community is invited to visit the Copperfield at Lakeside in Limerick to experience a food tastings dishes from more than 20 area restaurants, coordinated by the Collegeville Economic Development Corporation.

Participating restaurants include the Bay Pony Inn, Seasons 52 in King of Prussia, Marley’s BYO, Tortugas Mexican Eatery, Bonjung Japanese Restaurant and Rocco’s Brick Oven Pizzeria, among many others.

“This will be a prestigious culinary event focusing on both high-end and little known restaurants with very talented chefs.  Our goal is to introduce our area residents to superb cuisine that they may be unaware of,” said Morrison, “We are so fortunate to have discovered a number of brilliant chefs which we will be introducing to area residents at our first ‘Farmer and the Chef’ event!”

The event, sponsored by TR Insurance and DaVinci’s, will also feature dishes from the Collegeville Farmers Market, including Freeland Market. The event will help to fund the market, which is open in the DaVinci's parking lot on Saturdays.

“We opened the Collegeville Farmers’ Market in 2011 in response to our survey of Collegeville area residents who overwhelmingly requested that we operate a market in Collegeville offering farm fresh local and artisan products,” said CEDC President, Cathy Kernen. “Although we are fortunate to have a group of loyal volunteers who help us set up, run and break down the market each week, the cost of our signage, equipment, and part-time manager Jane Kim exceeds the money we take in from our stall fees."

For $45, guests can also enjoy music by teachers from the Community Music School in Trappe, and open bar, a DJ and a silent auction.
