Forecast: 1,400 New Local Jobs By 2040

Lower Providence's job growth is expected to be slower than in some neighboring municipalities.

Lower Providence will be home to almost 1,400 additional jobs by the year 2040, according to a new forecast by the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC). The organization approved the study at its monthly meeting.

The net growth of 11.8 percent in local jobs between 2010 and 2040 matches the population growth rate forecasted by the DVRPC earlier this year. Lower Providence's 2010 population of 25,436 is expected to grow to 28,440 by 2040.

Somewhat more rapid growth rates in population and employment are forecast for nearby Upper Providence (26.1 percent), Skippack (17.8 percent), and Worcester (15.6 percent).
