A former Comcast Cable supervisor admitted to stealing almost $75,000 in tools from a company warehouse and selling them online, according to The Times Herald.
Robert Kessler, of Stewart Road in Perkiomen Township, was sentenced to seven years of probation after pleading guilty to the felony charge of theft by unlawful taking after admitting to stealing items from a Comcast Warehouse over a 14-month period between 2010 and 2011.
Kessler, 51, who worked at the warehouse on Van Buren Ave in Lower Providence, was also ordered to pay $74,985 in restitution to Comcast as part of a plea agreement.
While Judge Joseph A. Smythe said that he might consider early termination of the probation once Kessler paid the restitution, prosecutors denied the defendant’s admission to the county’s Accelerated Rehabilitative Program (ARD), which would have allowed him to clear his record after his probationary period.
Kessler, who confessed to the thefts during a police interview, had sold 362 items since August of 2010. Police said that he would place an item for auction, take it from the Comcast inventory, and complete transactions to make it more difficult to track the loss.
