Accused Venna Killer Lost $15K Gambling

Losses preceded alleged ransom scheme

The man accused of killing a 10-month-old girl and her grandmother in an Upper Merion apartment tower in October had reportedly lost $15,000 gambling at casinos in the week before the crime.

The Associated Press reports that 26-year-old Raghunandan Yandamuri told authorities about his gambling losses in a videotaped statement he made following his arrest. The statement was played at his preliminary hearing on Wednesday morning.

Authorities have said the murders of Saanvi Venna and her 61-year-old grandmother, Satyavathi Venna, were part of a botched ransom scheme in which Yandamuri planned to demand $50,000 from Saanvi's parents for her safe return. Several copies of a ransom note were found at the murder scene.

The Montgomery County District Attorney's office is reportedly considering seeking the death penalty for Yandamuri.

Sick piece of S#*t! They should kill you to save us tax payers money. But no you go to jail and watch TV, get 3 meals a day, while 80% of us Americans struggle everyday!

Put this piece of human garbage in Graterford and turn him loose in general population. This'll save the state lots of money.

In the long run, the death penalty costs the state more than life in prison. Murderers should get life in solitary - 23 hours a day in their cell, with no TV or other amusements.

I've never seen evidence posted like this. Incredibly interesting and horrifically creepy. While its a no-brainer that he should be subject to the death penalty, as mentioned it costs us more. Just lock him up and throw away the key.

I have lost money at the casino and I never ever considered snatching a newborn from rich parents to pay my rent or go gamble again, which is what he would have done had he got the 50 grand in ransom. I will assume he follows the Quaran, which says DO NOT STEAL from others. Maybe he missed those chapters....Death row for you. You killed a baby in the commission of a crime.....You alone....Your choice..No one else's.

Give him the death penalty. I'll volunteer to do the execution for free. I'll even use my own gun and ammo.

Are you really that ignorant, or just racist? You assume he follows the Quran? Why because he's an INDIAN?? 80%+ of Indians are Hindu, not Muslim. (source: 2001 population study) Of course, nationality / skin-color dont indicate religion, but I think its a safe bet that your assumption is wildly incorrect.
