Couple Thinks Someone Tangled With Their Yard and Vehicle, Police Say

An Audubon couple told police that they suspected foul play in their yard and vehicle.

A couple told police that they suspected that someone had trespassed in their yard and stolen from their vehicle, according to a Lower Providence police report.

On Oct 6 a Lower Providence police officer went to the 200 block of South Park Avenue in Audubon around 10 a.m. in response to a call alleging that someone trespassed in the caller’s yard the last night, say police.

The alleged victim said that she had let the dog out around 6:30 a.m. to use the bathroom and said that she heard the dog barking and then heard someone whistle, say police.

The woman said that she went to her vehicle and saw that the passenger’s seat was all the way back, which is not how she had left it, according to the report. She also said that the items that she kept inside of the center console were now on top of it, say police. She said that her sunglasses, which she had paid $30 for, were missing, police say. When the officer asked her if she had been in the vehicle before the officer arrived, she said that she had, according to the report.

The officer later spoke to the victim’s husband, who said that someone perhaps tried to come through the back door; he said that the screen door was open a bit that morning, while he thought he had closed it at night, say police.

When the officer asked if he had come in and out of the door that morning the man said he had done so several times, police say. The officer informed the couple that, since, they had been in and out of the vehicle and door several times, they would not be able to do much regarding fingerprints, per the report.

The said that they grasped what the officer meant, but wanted the alleged incident documented; the issue was referred to detectives, according to the report.
