Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Ferman has announced that the man who allegedly stole gifts from a wedding at the William Penn Inn will also face charges for allegedly stealing gifts from a wedding in Upper Providence Township.

According to the press release, Joseph Patrick Franzone Jr., 35, of Bridgeport, has been charged with theft and related offenses in connection with nearly $9,000 of stolen gifts from a wedding at the RiverCrest Golf Club on June 22.

Shortly before 9 p.m. that evening, a witness allegedly observed a white male wearing shorts and a t-shirt loitering in the reception area. The witness then saw the man pick up a wedding cake card box and exit the room before fleeing the area on foot, the report states.

No arrest was made at that time, but after a witness saw Franzone's photo on the news last week, they contacted police and identified him as the man who stole the gifts from RiverCrest wedding, according to the report. Additional witnesses to the RiverCrest theft were shown photo arrays containing Franzone's image, and they also identified him as the man who committed the thefts, the report states.

Franzone turned himself in to police last week after a warrant was issued for his arrest, stemming from the July 7 theft of thousands of dollars of gifts from a wedding at the William Penn Inn in Lower Gwynedd. Prior to that arrest, Franzone had pleaded guilty to numerous felony theft, burglary and drug charges dating back to 1995.

He will be arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Walter Gadzicki today at 1:30 p.m.
