Law Enforcement in MontCo Crack Down on Driving Under the Influence Through Labor Day

Local Law enforcement officials will hold DUI checkpoints through Labor Day as part of a nationwide effort to curb driving under the influence.

Law enforcement officials in Montgomery county are cracking down on impaired drivers from now until Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 2, as part of a nation-wide effort to curb the driving of those who operate vehicles while under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Police are increasing their efforts over the Labor Day holiday period, a time when vehicle crashes related to Driving Under the Influence (DUI) increase.  Municipal police departments in Montgomery County are working together to prevent these crashes by means of DUI checkpoints. Abington Regional, Pottstown Regional, Hatfield Regional, Montgomery Regional, Valley Forge Area, and Lower Merion DUI Taskforces are out enforcing the state’s DUI laws.

The Montgomery County Health Department Community Traffic Safety Project reminds all holiday travelers to drive safe during the holiday. The Montgomery County Community Traffic Safety Project focuses on safety programming for seat belt usage, teen driving, school bus safety and etiquette, impaired driving, and pedestrian safety.  It is available to all Montgomery county community organizations and schools.
