A Lower Providence man was sentenced to jail and probation in the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas in Norristown on Tuesday after stealing over $25,000 worth of silverware and jewelry from a Limerick woman who had hired him to do electrical work in her home, according to The Mercury.

Dennis Daniels Jr., 25, from the first block of Ivy Circle in Lower Providence, was sentenced to a minimum of three and a maximum of 23 months in the county jail, and a subsequent five years of probation after his guilty plea to a charge of a felony of unlawful taking in relation to incidences that happened in April in the home of the Limerick woman.

Daniels is also supposed to pay a restitution of $5,303, as was ordered by Judge William R. Carpenter, who accepted Daniels’ plea agreement.

The Limerick homeowner told police in May that she found that jewelry was missing from her home on Mulberry Drive, also telling them that Daniels was the only person who had been in her home of late.

The woman told police that approximately $26,365 worth of cash, jewelry, and vintage silverware had been taken.

Court documents indicate that Daniels had been in the woman’s home several times in April to do approved electrical work.

The criminal complaint indicates that when police contacted Daniels about the missing property, he said that he was involved. Authorities found that he had sold some of the victim’s jewelry to pawn shops and gold-purchasing establishments.
