Man Formerly From Lower Providence Sentenced For Firearm Possession Violation

Jacob David Angelilli, 34, was sentenced to state prison in the Montgomery county court of common pleas after a plea agreement for a firearm possession violation.

A man formerly of Lower Providence was sentenced to a state prison for possessing a gun during a time when he was not supposed to possess one due to a protection from abuse order filed against him, according to The Phoenix Reporter & Item.

Judge Gary S. Silow sentenced Jacob David Angelilli, 34, who used to live on the 300 block of Conestoga Way, to three to seven years in state prison during proceedings in the Montgomery county court of common pleas, stemming from an incident from December of 2012.

As part of a plea agreement, Angelilli pled guilty to the charge of persons who are not to possess firearms, which is a felony, and Silow informed him that he would surrender to state prison on Nov. 8 to start his sentence.

As part of Angelilli’s plea agreement, the charges of criminal trespass, firearms that are not to be carried without a license, and burglary were dismissed against him.

Lower Providence police were involved on Dec. 8 of 2012, when they came to the 300 block of Conestoga Way in response to Angelilli’s former girlfriend, who said that he tried to come into her apartment after she told him he could not come in.

The woman told police that thought that he had a gun, and called 911 because she was afraid.

Police then did a traffic stop of his pickup truck, and said that he told them that he had a handgun in his truck and that he was homeless.

According to the arrest affidavit, “[t]he defendant also acknowledged that he recently received notification from the Pennsylvania State Police that he was prohibited to possess a firearm.”

Police found that he was a defendant in a protection from abuse that began in March of 2010 and would not expire until 2013.

Police obtained a warrant, searched his truck, and encountered a Glock .40-caliber handgun, as well as ammunition.
