Police said Khurshidali Rathod, 42, of Norristown, was driving a 2000 Honda Accord west on  Germantown Pike, and Colvin was driving a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix north on Valley Forge Road.

Both came upon a traffic signal at the intersection.

Police said Rathod allegedly drove through the red light, and allegedly crashed into Colvin’s car as he traveled through a green light.

The Honda hit Colvin’s Pontiac on its passenger front door, police said. Colvin’s vehicle spun counterclockwise and hit a utility pole at the corner of South Park Avenue and West Germantown Pike, police said.

The force of the impact with the pole caused the Pontiac to shift to the right and come to a rest partially in the intersection, police said.

The Pontiac spun 180 degrees and came to a rest facing east on Germantown Pike, police said.

Rathod was charged in the accident for running a red light, police said.
