Police: Couples’ Fight on Pawlings Road Leads to Arrest

Lower Providence Police responded to the 1500 block of Pawlings Road for an unknown type of disturbance on Oct. 7, according an affidavit of probable cause by Lower Providence Police Cpl. Walter Trimbur.

Police arrived at approximately 2:30 a.m. to find Rahsaan Boynes, of Norristown, his girlfriend and another male by a tan Buick on the northbound lane of Pawlings Road.

It was reported that Boynes and the girlfriend were both observed to have injuries consistent from a fight. Further signs of a physical altercation were observed on the ground and on the driver’s side door of the car.

When interviewed by police, Boynes stated that he and his girlfriend were involved in an argument over a girl in a Phoenixville club or bar. Boynes told police that he tried to avoid a fight by leaving the car when stopped. Stating that he was unable to do so, he was then allegedly struck by the girlfriend. Boynes also stated that he threw a phone into the car, but was unsure if it had struck the girlfriend’s face.

The girlfriend confirmed that she was driving home from an establishment in Phoenixville, while listening to headphones. She said, while driving, Boynes leaned over and grabbed the headphones off her head, which led to an increasingly heated verbal argument, and ultimately she stopped the car on Pawlings Road.

She then told police that Boynes exited the car and came over to the driver’s door, where he allegedly began fighting with her. She said she attempted to defend herself by kicking Boynes, who allegedly attempted to drag her from the car. She said that Boynes then threw a GPS or phone, which reportedly struck her on the left side of her face.

The affidavit reported that the couple continued to fight until police arrival.

Due to the nature of her injuries, the girlfriend was taken by Lower Providence EMS to Einstein Medical Center for treatment.

Reported injuries for Boynes consisted of a scratch on his face and chest and abrasions on his wrists, where his girlfriend had allegedly kicked him.

According to a Lower Providence Police report, Boynes was arrested and processed before District Judge Andrea Duffy the following morning. Bail was set at $2,000.

Boynes was charged with aggravated assault, attempted simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct.
