Three Charged in String of Thefts from Montco Landscapers

Three Pottstown men stole high-end landscaping equipment so they could sell it to buy heroin, police said.

Three Pottstown men allegedly ripped off landscapers across Montgomery County, stealing thousands of dollars of high-end equipment directly from trucks, police said.

Limerick police arrested Jason Michael Davis, 28  and Daniel John Vieldhouse. The third man, 28-year-old Donald E. Hill, did not turn himself in to police as scheduled, Limerick police Det. Ernie M. Morris said Tuesday. A warrant was issued for Hill's arrest.

The three men went on a two-month spree in which they stole high-end landscaping equipment from unattended trucks parked at job sites, Morris said.
The trio then pawned the equipment to feed their heroin habits, according to police.

"They would go out every day. In the month of June alone, they hit the pawn shop 19 out of 30 days, so this is what they did for their 40-hour work week," Morris told  6-ABC.

In all, the pair made off with almost $30,000 worth of equipment in less than 60 days, 6-ABC reported.

Vieldhouse and Davis were jailed Tuesday on $20,000 cash bail.
