In the wake of the scandal involving allegations of rape and drug use against ex-Montgomery County Republican Committee Chairman Robert Kerns, the Upper Gwynedd Township firm that beared his name--Kerns, Pearlstine, Onorato & Hladik, LLP, on Wissahickon Avenue—is no more.

Furthermore, Kerns has left the law firm after 39 years. He is been a lawyer with the firm since January 1975 and was educated at the Villanova University School of Law.

The law firm has been dissolved and, as of Dec. 1, is now known as Hladik, Onorato & Pearlstine, according to firm partner David Onorato.

The former firm served as solicitor of many municipalities, including Trappe Borough and Upper Gwynedd Township.

On Tuesday night, Trappe Borough appointed Hladik, Onorato & Pearlstine as its new solicitor.

"The solicitor on your minutes is a firm that no longer exists," said Onorato at Tuesday's Trappe Borough meeting. "Effective Dec.1, we created a new firm and are moving on with our practice."

Onorato had no further comment on the firm's future in the wake of the charges against Kerns.

The Kerns, Pearlstine, Onorato & Hladik website is "currently under construction."
