Lighting Ordinance Public Hearing Continues Wednesday in Worcester

Residents are still at odds over a new lighting ordinance meant to accomodate improvements being made to Methacton High School's athletic field.

Worcester Township Board of Supervisors meets tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Worcester Township Community Hall at 1031 Valley Forge Road in Fairview Village. Among the business on the agenda tonight is a continuation of the public hearing from Jan. 16 on the hotly debated proposed lighting ordinance that has some residents and area parents at odds.

The ordinance is designed to accomodate renovations being made at Methacton High School's athletic field that would include necessary field lighting. Some residents of Worcester oppose the renovations over concerns about "potential light spillage and noise from nighttime use."

Parents in favor of the ordinance have created an online petition as well as a Facebook page.
