Methacton Grad Honored for Township Service

Stauffer served as the student liaison of the Lower Providence Parks and Recreation Board from 2010 - 2012.

At the Aug. 2 Lower Providence Township Board of Supervisors meeting, Megan Stauffer was recognized for her service as student liaison on the township’s Parks and Recreation Board.

Richard Brown, chairperson of the township’s board of supervisors, presented Stauffer with a plaque. The plaque cited her years of service on the board from February 2010 until this year.

According to Brown, he also served on the Parks and Recreation Board with Stauffer, as the board of supervisor’s liason.

“I can tell you that she was a great asset to our organization. And, her attendance was wonderful, even though I don’t think she drove at the time,” Brown told those in attendance. “We’re proud to have you as part of our community.”

Karl Lukens, Parks and Recreation director, added that Stauffer’s contributions at board meetings has earned her the respect of fellow board members, including himself.

“She attends the board’s monthly meetings and provides valuable perspective,” Lukens said. “Megan’s offering of new ideas has been integral to the department’s success.”

Stauffer, who graduated from Methacton High School this year, will attend the University of Pittsburgh.

She expressed her own gratitude to the board, and recalled her favorite memory of her two-year tenure.

“I like to thank the Board of Supervisors and the Parks and Recreation Board for allowing me to serve in the community,” Stauffer said. “I would say that my favorite activity in the community, was dressing up as Rudolph for the Christmas tree lighting every year.”
