Methacton School District to Generate Revenue Through eBay

The school district plans to sell excess equipment via eBay after an administrative review.

In the past few years the Board of School Directors of the Methacton School District has asked the school administration to locate new sources of revenue, which seems to have come in the form of eBay, according to the district, online.

Stuart Whiteleather, Director of Business Services for the district, has lately discussed with the Board of School Directors how the district can utilize a process to sell unneeded equipment through eBay.

"This is a system that will allow us to utilize eBay to sell equipment that is no longer utilized," Whiteleather said. "Having implemented this system at my previous district, I know that there is potential for revenue generation by selling items that are no longer needed to a worldwide audience."

After administrators have determined that the district does not need a particular item, its value will be determined, and an eBay auction “‘reserve’” will be marked for the eBay listing. The buyer will be responsible for the shipping fees.
