Audubon Recreation Association All-Star Team Wins Norristown Little League's Machine Pitch Tournament

The Audubon Recreation Association’s 8U All-Star team won the Norristown Little League’s First Annual 8 Year Old Machine Pitch Tournament on Tuesday, at the Little League fields in Norristown.

Eight teams from the greater Norristown area participated.  Audubon won its three pool games against Upper Merion (15-5), East Norriton (12-2), and Norristown Grey (18-0), which set up a championship game against the Lower Gwynedd team.

Audubon fought hard for the championship game.  They scored 4 runs in the top of the 6th inning to open up a five run lead.  Lower Gwynedd battled hard in the bottom of the frame, pushing across the leadoff hitter to make the game 11-7.

The game ended with the same score when a Lower Gwynedd base runner on first was doubled up after a diving catch by the center fielder.

The 8U All-Star team won an earlier tournament victory this season with the Battle of the B’s that was hosted by the Valley Athletic Association in Bensalem.  Audubon finished their All-Star season with nine straight victories and two tournament victories to bring their final record to 14 and 4.
