SEPTA Expanding WiFi Offerings

SEPTA is partnering with Comcast on the campaign.

Does part of your daily commute include SEPTA? Your cell phone data plan may find relief in this news: SEPTA and Comcast on Tuesday announced that they’re working on new ways to keep riders connected to the Internet.

SEPTA will be offering free Xfinity WiFi service at some of its Regional Rail stations, including Market East, Suburban, 30th Street, Temple University and University City, the company said.

According to a news release from SEPTA, the WiFi expansions will include bus, rail and trolley lines. The expanded Internet will not be available on the trains themselves, the company said.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Comcast is providing the WiFi to SEPTA customers as part of a $1.7 million advertising campaign.

According to the Inquirer, the WiFi project is expected to take five years.
