Pop Warner Methacton Warriors Get New Scoreboard

The held its opening day games Aug. 25, at its home field in Eagleville Park.

Between the matches, Methacton Warrior families and supporters made positive remarks toward the field’s brand-new scoreboard.

The scoreboard is the product of combined efforts from the local business community, Lower Providence Township and the Methacton Warriors.

“It’s definitely a community partnership,” Tom Leahan, president of the Methacton Warriors, said during the sign’s dedication ceremony.

In his address, Leahan named several local businesses for helping to make the scoreboard possible, including R.J. Florig, a metal fabricator, who donated the I-beams; Miller Brothers Electrical Contractors; and J&K Excavating and Kevin Murray Electrician for helping to dig the foundation. He also thanked the township’s Parks and Recreation Department for easing the way.

“The township is very pleased to be helpful with this organization,” William Wurtz, chair of the Lower Providence Parks and Recreation board, said. “And, the Parks and Recreation board is very proud of what they did. It’s a great field, and a great activity for the youth.”

Leahan’s chief recognition went to J.P. Mascaro and Sons, who donated the scoreboard itself. 

J.P. Mascaro is a Lower Providence-based, family-owned-and-operated solid waste services company.

According to Frank Sau, J.P. Mascaro director of communications, the company has donated several scoreboards to different municipalities, however, the Methacton Warriors scoreboard is by far the largest and most expensive, with an estimated cost of $10,000.

“This is their home, this is where they live,” Sau said of J.P. Mascaro. “This is probably the best scoreboard we ever purchased.” 

Sau added that J.P. Mascaro has provided with several philanthropic gestures throughout the township.

“We feel giving back is a part of our company,” Lindsay Mascaro Ptaszenski, J.P. Mascaro director of education and community relations said.
