Lower Providence Township Honors Local Eagle Scout

Jake O'Donnell of Boy Scout Troop 267 was honored by the township for attaining the rank of Eagle Scout.

At the July 19 Lower Providence Township Board of Supervisors meeting, Boy Scout Jake O’Donnell was honored for service to the township that led him to attain the rank of Eagle Scout.

Don Thomas, vice-chair of the board, read a proclamation, which described O’Donnell’s Eagle Scout project, and what it means to attain the rank.

The following is how the proclamation was read at the board of supervisors meeting:

“Whereas Lower Providence Township takes pride in its sense of community and citizen involvement, whereas the Eagle Scout is obligated to live his life with honor, loyalty, courage, cheerfulness, and service, and the Boy Scouts of America encourage Eagle Scout candidates to undertake worthy projects to improve their neighborhoods and community, and, whereas Jake O’Donnell, a member of Boy Scout Troop 267, Lafayette District, completed work to construct two board walks on the nature trail in Lower Providence Township’s Evansburg Pointe Park, and, whereas Jake’s commitment to leadership and service is demonstrated by his progress through the Scouting ranks to achieve this prestigious award, in recognition theirof, the board of supervisors of lower providence township extendes its sincere congratulations to Jake O’Donnell on his attainment of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Boy Scouts.”

Karl Lukens, the township’s Parks and Recreation Department director, helped to honor O’Donnell’s achievement by offering words of appreciation.

“I just like to thank Jake for selecting Lower Providence Township and doing the outstanding work that he did,” Lukens said.

According to O’Donnell, the two foot bridges he constructed were 16-by-3-feet in length.
