The increase is a testament to MCCC’s efforts to improve student access, success and completion over the last decade. A record total of 1,513 students will receive 1,535 associate’s degrees and certificates during the College’s 46th Commencement exercises, which will be held at MCCC’s Central Campus in Blue Bell starting at 7 p.m. The ceremony will feature a keynote address by Drexel University President John A. The Collegeville-based Montgomery County Conservation District held its annual Envirothon May 1 – 3, which featured student teams from several of the county’s elementary, middle and high schools; 18 schools in all. The Envirothon, which started state-wide in 1976, is designed to expose youth to nature through which they can relate how humans impact the natural world, while providing invaluable lessons for understanding ecosystems and our environment, according to the Envirothon website. A total of 13 vehicles from Eagleville, Audubon and Trooper had their emblems removed during the overnight hours of May 18 and May 19.
The Lower Providence Police Department is investigating multiple vandalism incidents which occurred sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning. According to the report, the suspects struck vehicles in Eagleville, Audubon and Trooper. In all cases, the emblems were removed from the vehicle, though police found no signs that the suspects attempted to gain entry into any of the vehicles. The list of damaged vehicles includes: Nearly all of the owners told police that they had not seen or heard anything suspicious during the evening, but one victim stated that they observed a blue, late-model Toyota circling his neighborhood during the night of May 18. A shopper who lost their mother to cancer last week was removed from the King of Prussia Mall for wearing a cancer awareness hat containing an expletive.
A woman was recently kicked out of the King of Prussia Mall because she was wearing a cancer awareness hat containing an expletive. According to a report by FOX 29, the woman, along with her sisters, were removed after they ignored requests from security to take off the "F*** Cancer" hat. They lost their mother to breast cancer last week, the report states. The mall's manager issued a statement to FOX 29, stating that the "King of Prussia Mall is a proud supporter of breast cancer awareness and other important causes however, the mall is first and foremost a family destination." The transportation company has proposed minor changes to its price increases.
While SEPTA is still moving forward with its strategy to increase fairs and utilize smart cards for passengers, the regional transportation company might not be increasing the cost of its rides quite as much as it once planned. According to a report in Philly.com, SEPTA is considering scaling back its raised wages, though not in a major way. A board committee will vote on the slight scale back on Thursday. This story was last updated on May 21 at 2:30 p.m.: The Pennsylvania State Police held a press conference Monday afternoon regarding the disappearance of 21-year-old Matthew Royer, who left the University of Rhode Island Thursday evening, reportedly en route to his Skippack home, but never arrived. Royer was last seen purchasing gas and water around 2 a.m. on Friday morning in Breinigsville, which is only 30 miles from his home. ABC Reports say Royer's vehicle was seen again at 1 p.m. on Friday at Route 501 and Route 22 in Lebanon County, where two Subway restaurant employees told Action News that they "feel confident" they saw Royer. The Lebanon County sighting is over 60 miles away from Skippack, and Pennsylvania State Police say he may …

The four-week genealogy workshop is designed for beginners, and will start May 21.
The Historical Society of Montgomery County, located at 1654 Dekalb St. in Norristown, will hold a four-week Genealogy Workshop, from May 21 – June 11. The Tuesday evening workshops will occur from, 7 – 8:30 p.m., and will be lead by genealogist Rose Brown. The workshops are designed for beginning genealogists, who wish to find their roots. According to the Genealogy Society of Pennsylvania website, becoming a new genealogist is an exciting time, from discovering an ancestor’s naturalization papers or locating a long-ago relative in a census.
