PA Voters Say 'Fix Economy'

The Franklin & Marshall College poll ranks what voters feel is important for the state.

The No. 1 issue that Pennsylvania voters care about is improving the economy, at least according to one poll. The Frankin and Marshall College poll of Pennsylvania voters for May 2013 found that, of 11 possible issues, the one voters said to be most important to them was improving the state’s economy. The poll listed a number of issues and asked voters to rank its importance on a scale of 1 to 10. The top two issues, “improving the state’s economy” and “help create new jobs,” both had a mean score of 8.9 among voters polled. The poll, which was conducted between April 30 and May 5, gathered responses from 526 registered voters, including 265 Democrats, 196 Republicans and 65 Independents. North Wales Road in Worcester Scheduled for Construction Closure

The overnight May 20 – 21 construction closure concerns the placement of bridge beams on the north and southbound sides of the overhead structure.

Pennsylvania State Representative Kate Harper (R-61), provided a reminder via her Twitter feed (@Montco061) that North Wales Road in Worcester and Whitpain townships will be closed overnight, May 20 – 21. The purpose of the closure will be the placement of bridge beams on the northbound and southbound side of the Turnpike underpass structure. Traffic will be detoured from 7 p.m. – 6 a.m. between Morris Road and Township Line Road at North Wales Road, and no vehicle or pedestrian traffic will be allowed through the underpass during the closure. Two Republicans and two Democrats will be on the ballots of both political parties Tuesday.

  Four Montgomery County residents are hoping to fill two open seats in the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas in January, but the first step is making it past the Primary Election, in which all of the candidates are cross-filed. Republican candidates Sharon Giamporcaro and Maureen Coggins will be on the Republican and Democrat ballots, as will Democrats Steven Tolliver and Gail Weilheimer. New Sighting of Missing Skippack Man's Car Reported

Matthew Royer went missing en route to Skippack from the University of Rhode Island on Thursday; his vehicle was spotted in Lebanon County Friday afternoon.

  Pennsylvania State Police confirmed a new sighting of the car belonging to Matthew Royer, 21, a Skippack Township man who went missing on his way home from a Rhode Island Thursday night, according to abclocal.com.  Police say Royer’s car was seen at 1 p.m. on Friday at Route 501 and Route 22 in Lebanon County, where two Subway restaurant employees told Action News that they "feel confident" they saw Royer. Pennsylvania State Police say Royer left the University of Rhode Island on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. with his valuables in his vehicle. Before the Lebanon County sighting, Royer was seen at a Sunoco gas station in Breiningsville, Lehigh County, where he bought gas and water. The price of his parents home is to infer that they are not poor, and it is unlikely he was driving a car prone to breakdowns, or was too poor to pay the $25 in tolls to take the turnpike. As for maybe he fell asleep, his reason for leaving at 6:30p was that he slept late, so I have to take that as he should not have needed a nap by 11pm. State Police Searching for Missing College Student

Matthew Royer, 21, of Skippack, left his apartment at the University of Rhode Island on Thursday and has not been seen since.

Police are seeking help in locating a missing Skippack man who hasn’t been heard from since leaving his Rhode Island college on Thursday. Pennsylvania State Police say that Matthew R. Royer, 21, left the University of Rhode Island on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. en route to his Skippack Township home, but has not been heard from since. Royer is 6 feet, one inch tall and 160 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes, and police believe he is driving a silver 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt. According to WFMZ, Royer’s last cell phone activity was traced to somewhere near Vera Cruz Road in Lehigh County. Historical Society Holds Memorial Day Observance

Montgomery County Historical Society will hold at Memorial Day Observance at Montgomery Cemetery. Over 400 veterans are laid to rest in this West Norriton cemetery, including five Civil War Generals.
