New Blog Chronicles Methacton School District Politics

Methacton alum Kyle Allebach has launched Methacton Politics, a blog chronicling the school district news that isn't making the local papers.

Many Lower Providence Patch readers may recognize Kyle Allebach's name from his blog posts here on Patch.footing in the blogosphere and has launched Methacton Politics, a blog focused on "the little things that happen in the Methacton School District that seem to never end up in The Times Herald or never talked about as local news." According to Allebach, he's been a regular at school board meetings for the last five years and he pledges that facts posted on his page will be public knowledge and publicly sourced.  Allebach launched the blog last month and has already done a pretty good job of covering the latest in the Worcester lighting ordinance debacle, Methacton's plans for new planetarium equipment and a few of the items that were …

The last meeting was 2 hours long and the only item he put in his article was a discussion about the football lights, not about maybe the district borrowing another 5 …   more ›

Montco Mommy

Seriously, School District? He's a Truant?

Montco Mommy takes district to task over absentee policies.

This year, the flu really hit our family pretty hard. I hear it was one of the worst flu seasons ever. My son probably felt it worst of all. At age 7, there isn't much you can do for him, but monitor his fever and keep it down with acetaminophen and ibuprophen.  Thankfully, he made it through OK. We took two different trips to the doctor, and all in all, he missed 10 days, or two weeks, of school. Thankfully it was right around the holidays, so I figured with Christmas break looming, he'd not miss much work. It only took he and me a few days to catch up his school work. I thought the flu season was conquered, and all was behind us. That is until I got the mail a few days ago. It seems that since my son has missed more than 10 days this …

Methacton parents may remember that Dr. Miller previously served as the district's superintendent from 2003 to 2007. According to the district, Dr. Miller has more than 40 years experience in public education including as a teacher in in the Quakertown School District and …

It is inconceivable that Methacton School Board even considered rehiring this bozo, from so many perspectives. Jeffrey Miller openly disrespected and undermined teaching staff and principals even in front of students. He was a visibly disruptive influence in the schools. When he retired the staff that were'nt holding open the door, were handing him his hat. It was Jeffrey Miller who proposed the …   more ›

Tree Tenders Basic Training Offered at Ursinus College

Pennsylvania Horticultural Society professionals offer professional training and guidance to area residents.

From Ursinus College: Ursinus College is hosting a Pennsylvania Horticultural Society Tree Tenders training course to empower and teach area residents who want to care for and help restore the local tree population. The course is split into three sessions, April 9, 16 and 23, from 6 to 9 p.m., in Pfahler Hall’s Musser Auditorium. This program is an element of the new horticultural society initiative, Plant One Million, a multi-state campaign to replenish the tree population in 13 counties in the Philadelphia, southern New Jersey and Delaware regions. Millions of trees have been lost in this area recently, and the society hopes to have a 30 percent tree canopy, which is the area of land shaded by trees. A community can form a Tree Tenders …
