Over $4,200 Worth of Equipment Stolen in Trooper

At least seven pieces of landscaping equipment was taken from an outside trailer on the parking lot of the Soil Rich company.

On Nov. 14, Lower Providence Police responded to the Soil Rich company, located at 501 N. Trooper Road in Norristown. The call was for theft of over $4,200 worth of equipment. According to the police report, at approximately 7 a.m., Soil Rich employees contacted the owner of Gonzales Landscaping, as he rents a space for his landscaping trailer at the location. The call was in regards to his trailer being broken into while parked in the lot. The owner told police that he secured his trailer on Nov. 13 between the hours of noon and 1 p.m. He arrived at approximately 7:20 a.m. the following morning, and found a padlocked side access door on his 2006 Roadmaster Trailer forced open. St. Gabe’s Teen Found in Custody in Abington

The St. Gabriel’s Hall teen that was reported missing was found in custody by Abington Police, and may have burglarized an Audubon industrial office.

According to Lower Providence Police, the teen who was reported missing from St. Gabriel’s Hall in Audubon last weekend, was found in custody by Abington Police for Retail Theft. The investigation for the missing teen, previously reported as a 15-year-old black male, started with Lower Providence Police responding to a reported burglary on Nov. 10 at Houghton International, located at 945 Madison Ave. in Audubon.  Houghton International is an international industrial fluid business. Its Audubon facility is approximately three miles away from St. Gabriel’s Hall. Houghton employees told police that the burglary was noticed at approximately 7:29 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, and was last seen secure on Friday Nov. 9 at 6 p.m. Employees discovered …

Lower Providence Crime, by the Numbers

Lower Providence reports a decrease in crime in 2011.

Crime apparently has been going down in Lower Providence Township. Since at least 2009, the FBI Uniform Crime Reports (UCR) indicate a decrease of certain crimes throughout the township. The FBI UCR incorporate crime data submitted by more than 18,000 law enforcement agencies across the country, including Lower Providence. The crime statistics are reported only after a full 12-month report by a law-enforcement agency has been submitted through the UCR program. Among the crime data presented in the UCR are those of known crimes of those individual law enforcement agencies. In terms of violent crimes, there were 42 reported incidents in 2011, as compared to 2010 with 53 and 48 in 2009 in Lower Providence. Examples of violent crime are listed…

Lower Providence Man Sentenced for Indecent Exposure

The incident took place at the Audubon Ale House in March, and involved asking patrons 'Knock Knock?'

According to a Times Herald report, a Lower Providence man has pleaded guilty to an indecent exposure charge this week for exposing his genitals to patrons at the Audubon Ale House. The report states that Kiel E. Jeffers, 25, of the 2000 block of Greene’s Way Circle, was sentenced by Judge Steven O’Neill in Montgomery County Court to two years’ probation and 24 hours of community service. The incident was said to have occurred March 11, when Lower Providence Police responded to a report at the Audubon Ale House of a male committing indecent exposure. While the report states that the Jeffers was not at the bar upon police arrival, several witnesses told police that Jeffers exposed his genitals to several patrons. Witnesses told police that …

Two Thefts from Autos Reported in Eagleville

Gift cards, cash and a 9-foot blow-up Halloween Ghost were reported missing from the respective vehicles, one of which was left unlocked overnight.

Two neighbors, along the 3000 block of Walker Lane in Eagleville, made separate reports concerning missing items and cash from their respective vehicles on Nov. 7. The first report, according to Lower Providence Police, occurred overnight. The vehicle owner told police he noticed on the morning of Nov. 7 that $190 in cash and two Wawa gift cards were stolen. The owner also said that signed checks were left in an envelope where the cash had been. The money was left in the glove box, and the gift cards in the center console. The owner further told police that he left his car in the driveway, unlocked, at approximately 8 p.m. According to the owner, he remained awake until 11:30 p.m., but did not see the motion spot light in the area of the …

Driver Arrested for DUI Crashed on top of Collegeville Mailbox

Lower Providence Police report that after the crash, the driver allegedly left the car running, as well as the scene.

On Oct. 25, at 8:23 p.m. Lower Providence Police found a white, 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass on top of a resident’s mailbox. The car was was still running, but the driver was not at the scene. The incident occurred in the Collegeville section of Lower Providence. A witness told police that he was in his driveway when he saw the Cutlass leaving a nearby driveway, and described the driver to police. The witness further stated that the driver left his premises at a high rate of speed, attempted to turn left on Germantown Pike, but never made the turn, striking the mailbox. Another witness, traveling westbound on Germantown Pike, told police that he saw the vehicle stuck on top of the mailbox, with smoke coming from out of the car. This witness …

Police: Update on Arcola Road Domestic Dispute

Lower Providence Police release reports providing further details about the domestic dispute in Audubon.

[Editor's Note: Some article details may be too graphic for some readers.] As previously reported on Patch, Lower Providence Police responded to a domestic dispute on Sept. 27 in Audubon, after an alleged fight between a father and son that sent the father to Paoli Hospital and the son charged with various offenses. Police responded to the incident approximately 5:25 p.m. at a residence on the 3300 Arcola Road. According to a report by Lower Providence Police, neighbors called 9-1-1 after hearing for the urgent request from the homeowner, who has been identified as the father in this incident. UPDATE: Police Found Owner of Mobile Home that Caught Fire Wednesday

Lower Providence authorities are investigating a Wednesday night mobile home fire in Trooper.

[Update 2 p.m.] Lower Providence Township has reported that the mobile homeowner has been located, and the investigation is still pending. [Original story follows below] According to a Lower Providence Township press release, a mobile home in the Trooper section of the Township suffered extensive damage in a fire Wednesday night. Montgomery County Emergency Dispatch Services dispatched Lower Providence Township Police, Fire and EMS to a building fire on Ivy Circle in the Sunnyside Mobile Home Park at 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3. Police arrived on Ivy Circle to find residents attempting to extinguish trees on fire with a garden hose. Police: Son Allegedly Attacks Father with Wrench

Lower Providence Police state that a domestic dispute on Arcola Road last week ended violently.

According to Lower Providence Police Chief Francis Carroll, Philadelphia resident James Torrence allegedly attacked his father with a wrench during a domestic dispute. On Sept. 27, at approximately 5:30 p.m. Lower Providence Police and Lower Providence Community Center Ambulance services responded to the domestic dispute call, as reported by neighbors on the 3300 block of Arcola Road. According to Carroll, Torrence was having dinner with his father, when, for reasons not yet released, the two had an argument, which resulted in Torrence allegedly attacking his father with a wrench. Police: Pending DUI Charge for Underage Collegeville Man

Lower Providence Police report that the 20-year-old male, who reportedly failed field sobriety tests, was found asleep behind the wheel at a red light last night.

While stopped at a red light, a 20-year-old Collegeville man was found asleep or passed out in the driver’s seat, Lower Providence Police report. Patch is withholding the man’s name, as a police charge of DUI is pending. According to a police report, Lower Providence Police Cpl. Michael Slattery was on routine patrol at approximately 1:30 a.m., when he stopped at a red light at the intersection of Germantown and Ridge pikes. In front of his vehicle was a black Chevorlet Tahoe. The report states that Slattery waited approximately 10-15 seconds before honking his vehicle’s horn, when the light had turned green.
