National Weather Service Issues a Wind Advisory

Norristown area is included in a wind advisory warning of high winds.

Hold onto your hats, sports fans. Non-sports fans should probably hold on too today. The wind has really picked up ahead of a wet snow and rain storm. The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for the area, predicting winds to be 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50. The advisory is in place until midnight Wednesday night. "Strong winds could bring down tree limbs and power lines and cause power outages," warned the NWS advisory. "Any wet snow accumulations tonight wil exacerbate the outages.  Those in Montgomery County are expected to only see trace ammounts up to two inches of snow, according to NWS forecasts. Still, it is good to heed the warning. "Motorists should use extra caution, especially those in high profile vehicles …

Hi Leigh, I agree totally with you. People drive way to fast in icy roads. There will probably be black ice, which is more dangerous. You do not know it is there until it is too late.   more ›

Montco's Snow Predictions Lowered by NWS

County is now under a 'winter weather advisory' and not a 'winter storm warning.'

The area of Montgomery County will now likely get less snow than originally predicted. The National Weather Service has reduced the area's warning down to a "Winter Weather Advisory." Last night, the NWS issued a Winter Storm Warning, declaring that four to eight inches of snow were expected for the county. However, today's forecast lessened the report to a now-expected one to two inches. "Accumulations of snow of one to at most four inches are expected," according to the latest advisory. The newest information from the NWS, located in Mount Holly, N.J., says that travel may still be possible now. "A winter weather advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties," said the advisory. "Be prepared …
